Drawing Grade Examinations hold an important place in today's world. The syllabi of these examinations are modified from time to time. At present, these examinations are conducted in the states of Maharashtra, Goa, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, and Uttar Pradesh.

 Drawing Grade Examinations have gained importance at the national level and generally students from Std. 7th to 12th appear for them. These exams have enhanced the awareness of art in society.

Students passing the Intermediate Grade Examination are qualified to pursue higher education for technical courses like Commercial/Applied art, Fine art, Textile Designing Interior Designing, Fashion Designing, Architecture, etc. Similarly, for technical courses like Architecture and other related courses, preference is given to the students who have an Intermediate certificate. These exams are mandatory for students seeking admission to Government Art Colleges after the 12th Standard. During the entrance exams of various courses, a grace mark of 10 is awarded to the A Grade holders and a grace mark of 5 to the B Grade holders of the Intermediate Drawing Grade Examination.
